The bare necessities of life!

I have spent many times to watch and learn about some Disney movies. For a guy who is 20-years-old, it probably sounds weird. But it's fun! They are just simple movies for children, but I found many values if you look deeper and see it from different perspective! So, I think I just want to share some precious things I got from these fairy tales. Why not?

Okay, this time I want to talk about a big bear from the Jungle Book movie. His name is Baloo. Some people call him 'papa bear'. This bear has very great thought. He's the most relaxed character I have ever found in the Disney world. One lesson from him is called 'The Bare Necessities'. I know some of you have known about it.

The Bare Necessities. That's what people need now. Baloo's thought is very simple: "Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities. Forget about your worries and your strife." That's what he does for his life. Just look for things that are really necessity, and don't worry about other things that are not really important.

Some people may say: The bare necessities will make you a person who doesn't have ambition and motivation to achieve something in life. It just makes you an average person.

"Most people want to achieve something to make their life better. The truth is, when they can't achieve it, they're worried and stressed. It brings pressures in their life, which steal their happiness in the end. So, what's the point?"

Yes, maybe that's true. I also agree. But what I see now, most people want to achieve something to make their life better. The truth is, when they can't achieve it, they're worried and stressed. It brings pressures in their life, which steal their happiness in the end. So, what's the point? Great lines from Baloo that gives me new perception: "Don't spend your time lookin' around for something you want that can't be found. When you find out you can live without it, and go along not thinkin' about it." Doesn't it make sense? I think it's super awesome thought.

Don't spend your time lookin' around for something you want that can't be found. When you find out you can live without it, and go along not thinkin' about it. -Baloo

That's what I mean. It's good to achieve something, but keep being realistic. When you can't achieve it, or get some obstacles, you can keep trying. But one most important thing, don't lose your happiness because of it. Because real important things that you really need are actually very few.

"Now when you pick a pawpaw or a prickly pear, and you prick a raw paw, next time beware." That's what Baloo teaches. Simple? When you get something bad because of your mistakes ("you prick a raw paw"), don't be sad and blame yourself. Just learn, so you don't repeat it again ("next time beware").

When you realize you can live without something, but it can make you better, all you have to do is trying to get it. If you still can't have it, keep trying and trying, don't give up. It's okay, but don't be stressed and worried because of that. If it makes you so, it's better to let go, since you can still live without it, right?

If you still can't have it, keep trying and trying, don't give up. But don't be stressed and worried. If it makes you so, it's better to let it go, since you can still live without it.

In conclusion, Baloo doesn't achieve anything in his life, but he never loses his happiness. And I guess happiness is much more important than achievement. I don't say we should not achieve anything, but prioritizing the more important thing first is right. With the bare necessities of life, Baloo doesn't have much, but he always knows how to enjoy what he really needs. Because he knows, what he really needs is much more important that what he wants.

The solution when you're confused

These days I was so confused. It's like I don't know which step I should take since I don't exactly know where the way leads me to. All I think is 'what if'. What if I take this way? Then I can't find what I will find if I go another way? In contrast, what if I take the another way? I can't get what I will get if I go this way?

Confusion is a word we have invented for an order which is not understood. Henry Miller

Well, confusion always makes everything confusing. It doesn't lead you anywhere, it just brings you bigger confusing situation. And then I realized something. I'm confused not because I don't know what I should do. It's because I don't know what I'm looking for. And in life, it always happen to us.

Let me illustrate this. Let's say there are two ways you can choose. First way will bring you to a place where you can find people you love. The second way is different. It has a lot of money that definitely makes you rich. There is a situation when you're confused.

I'm confused not because I don't know what I should do. It's because I don't know what I'm looking for. And in life, it always happen to us.

Maybe you want to follow the first way as you can feel happy when you're with the people you love. Make sense. But you don't have money? It's not a guarantee there's money there, and you know you can't live without money. Then you change your mind, you decide to follow the second way. You think it's okay not to be with people you love, because you can still survive without them, because you have money! But then you think again, what's the point of having a lot money and living this life if you can't feel happy with the people you love? And maybe you'll find new people there who you can also love?

Well, I'm not gonna debating about which way is right. But this confusing situation often comes to our lives. It's not always about money, people you love, or what. It's just example. It can be anything.

Whether we realize or not, when we're confused, we keep asking about which the right way we should go. We focus too much about it, while what we really need is to know what we really need, not the right way. The question now is not which the right way to go, but which we we're looking for. Is it happiness with the people we love? Or surviving life with money is already enough? Weigh both, which one is more important?

We focus too much about which the right way we should go, while what we really need is to know what we really need, not the right way.

When we try to know which the right way to go, we will never know it. When we know what we're looking for, we will know the right way to go. The hardest part is to know what you're really looking for. But, at least it will lead you to less confusion, or no confusion.

I'm wondering about you, Alice

Everybody knows the girl named Alice, and everybody knows she is in Wonderland. But I'm sure most of them don't know why she is in Wonderland, and they don't know the meaning of 'Alice in Wonderland'. Actually, where is Wonderland? It's quite confusing. It really makes me curious.

Well, some people may say I think too much about this girl, and her 'Wonderland'. But I guess the author created this story for something. I heard from some people that the author is crazy, that's why his story becomes confusing and have ambiguous meaning. They say, this story doesn't make sense. The question is, if it's so, why does this story become so popular? But still, not all of them know the meaning and the story.

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see? -Alice (Alice in Wonderland)

Every time I watch a Disney movie, all I do is figuring out the personality and finding something unique in every characters. But for Alice, I can't. I'm just so curious about her, like she's curious about White Rabbit she chased. There's something in her that is very very unique, but I don't know what. I'm just wondering how she could go to the Wonderland. I guess, the real author has been in that place before. No?

I keep rewatching it for many times. I always try to follow the flow, wherever she goes, but it always becomes more confusing. She just followed the White Rabbit, until she met the blue caterpillar, the Mad Hatter, March Hare, the Queen, the Cheshire Cat (this is the second character I'm curious after Alice), and more strange creatures. Alice just talked with one strange creature, nothing happened, then she moved to another strange creature. The question is, what is the point of all of them?

Oh Alice, I wish someday I could understand why you have that land. I just want to know more about the world of your own.
