A birthday to remember

Hey, I'm 21 years old now! People say, when a guy is already 21, he's officially a man. Ha! I'm not sure about that. What I believe is, I must always be better person on my new birthday, compared to the previous year. Birthday should just about growing in age, but also growing in character and personality.

I still remember on my 20th birthday last year, I talked to God, "God, I'm 20 now. I think that I still don't do much in my life. Next year I'm gonna be 21, an age that people say a man becomes mature. I have one year from today to make it better. Teach me. Guide me. Let me be a better person than now when I'm 21."

I don't think I'm mature now. But I'm so glad that I feel like I'm a better person that who I was last year. I thank God I'm not that 20 years old guy who always worried about everything. God has teached me many great things for this last year, from both good and bad things. It was not always easy, sometimes too challenging, but it's always worth it because God is my leader. I don't say that I've already become a person I want to be, but I feel great when I know I'm not a person I was used to be. It means I made a progress, I was not stuck at the same place with nothing to do. So, here I am, a 21-years-old guy, who is not a man yet, but not a boy anymore.

Talking about my birthday yesterday (yes, my birthday was yesterday, 15 August), who's not excited for their birthday? Everyone is super excited for their birthday. Me too! :)

For the last two years, I celebrated my birthday in Singapore. Surprisingly, this year I could celebrate in my country, Indonesia. I was so surprised when I saw the timetable of this semester, and there was a week with no class. It was a week of my birthday. Isn't it really great? I thank God for allowing me to celebrate my special day differently this time (after the last two years I celebrated with my friends in Singapore).

It was a birthday with a surprise from a best friend...

By the way, this year, I got similar surprise from my best friend. For you who don't know about my best friend, his name is Ricky. We have been best friends for 6 years, but we live in different countries. Actually, we're more than just best friends. We're like brothers!

On my birthday last year, he came to Singapore to celebrate my birthday together. This year, he came to my city to celebrate my birthday again! Yay! These last two years, I had great birthdays with my best friend, and it was awesome! :)

Actually he used to make it a birthday surprise. He planned not to let me know until my birthday. But then he decided to tell me first, so we could still meet on several days before my birthday (as we can't meet everytime due to different places). So, it's not really a birthday surprise. But I was really surprised when he said he would come and meet me!

This year I got a pair of shoes from him. Few days before my birthday, my best friend kept asking me "Guess what birthday present I'll give to you this year." (He bought the present already!) I was not really sure what he bought for me, but I knew it was between shoes and wallet. He also asked, "If it's shoes, what brand is it?" and I just answered, "Must be Hush Puppies". Haha! I was right. It's Hush Puppies! Thank you my best friend. I love the shoes so much.


It was a birthday I got GAP for the 3rd time from the same person...

I also got a jacket from my friend, Nesia. Birthday present from this person is very unique. She always gives me a product from GAP for my birthday. Last two years, she gave me a bag from GAP. Last year, she gave a shirt, also from GAP. This year, she gave me a jacket, also from GAP (again). Hahaha. But I love this brand. I'm so GAP. Casual. After she bought me this, she asked me, "Why do I always buy you a gift from GAP?" She didn't realize about it too! It's very funny, huh? :)


It was a birthday when I couldn't be more surprised for a camera...

Yesterday night, after me and my best friend spent the day from morning till late afternoon, I had a birthday dinner with my family and some cousins. When it almost finished, my sister gave me a birthday present that was already wrapped beautifully. Then she said, "You must guess first before you open it. You must be very happy for this because you once told me you really want it." Till the end, I still couldn't guess because I really had no idea about it. But when I realized it was a polaroid camera, I was like "OMG! It's polaroid! Finally I had it." Not just a polaroid camera! She bought me the 50S one. It's the best one. And the most touching part is, my sister added two packs of films, and she chose packs of Stitch and Toy Story. For you who don't know, I'm a big fans of Stitch and Toy Story. My sister knows me too well. I couldn't be happier for this. She completed my birthday last night! :)


It was a birthday when I finally became an iPad user...

I got iPad too, from my mom. Sorry, no photo. I took all the photos above from my iPad. So, there's no photo for the iPad itself. haha. But it's one of the greatest gifts I got this year. My mom knew I really wanted an iPad since several months ago. So she just told me, "Later when it's almost your birthday, buy an iPad for you. It's from mom for a birthday present this year." Ah! I feel so blessed for all these things on my birthday. Thanks God! This is the greatest birthday ever.
